  • Quit smoking
  • No alcohol
  • Try eating 4 to 5 small meals a day, instead of 3 large meals
  • Avoid foods that increase your symptoms

How does a peptic ulcer affect my body?


Peptic ulcers are commonly thought to be caused by stress, but this is actually caused by bacteria, the Helicobacter Pylori. In the hospital they can use a small tube to look into your stomach to assess the ulcer(s) and to check wether or not it’s caused by the bacteria Helicobacter Pylori. When this is set, the doctor will prescribe antibiotics and drugs to decrease the peptic acid production. This is usually very effective.
